After an intense day of Cabarete powers once again crowned the “king of the waves.” The Dominican Yan Marco Rivera managed to become the new “Master of the Ocean”, an athlete with the best performance in the disciplines of surfing, kiteboarding and windsurfing.

Recognized for his achievements in kitesurfing and among the best in the country, Rivera was able to practice the three disciplines in which they scored points for the overall victory. The native went to great lengths to deal with the unstable weather conditions prevailing at Playa Encuentro, especially the first two days of conflict, and implemented a comprehensive and innovative movements to be routine and the title of the fifth version of “Master of the Ocean “.

The Spanish Dominican Jose Luengo and Luciano Gonzalez, reached the second and third place overall, respectively.

In the “Master of the Ocean”, an event that was developed with support from Orange

and Suzuki, among other sponsors, and attended by about 60 athletes from various countries, there was a considerable domain of Dominicans. In the overall final table include Creole Roberto Diaz, Michael Guzman, Manuel Rondon, Nino Rodriguez, Oscar de la Cruz and Tony Garcia. Frenchman completes the ten Bertnard Fleury who dominated the category.

The only triathlon water sports available to the Dominican Republic, was held for the fifth time in the town of Cabarete. The qualifying events took place the first two days with very changeable weather, so once again Playa Encuentro competitors demanded a high level of skill on their tables and excellent physical condition until the final day.

Marcus Bohm, organizer and creator of the “Master of the Ocean”, thanked all who supported the event. “The idea is still project to Cabarete as an area with great potential for sports tourism,” said a German citizen. “We are very pleased with the results from this year and already start working on next.”

The other “masters”

The individual competitions of surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing, had an eminently national flavor. The title “Surf Master” was in the hands of Orlando Bonilla, Ivan Miolán (Banana), and young Brandon Sanford, the town of Cabarete, complete the treble of winners.

As for the “Master Kite”, Yan Marco Rivera finale ended their participation after winning the first place, followed by Ariel Corniel, in the second, and Paulino Popo, in the third.

The sleeves of windsurfing, which were delayed until Tuesday, February 27 due to unstable wind conditions, proved to be one of the most exciting and most expectations. The legendary Tony Garcia transcended and was crowned the winner of first place in “Master wind”. Samuel Perez and Oscar de la Cruz, occupied the second and third.
