Goodwin Dominates SUP Master
The swell hit, the wind was perfect as the sun came up Saturday Morning for the Master of the Ocean Sup CUP. Glenn “Chico” Goodwin put the hammer down early and never let up. “…I had no choice I had to” said Goodwin. Goodwin began the day trailing Maui John and McLoven by 1 with only two days remaining. El “Master” continúa pese al mal tiempo
La competencia que busca el atleta con mejor desempeño en las disciplinas de surf, kitesurf y windsurf se celebra en Cabarete hasta este domingo.
Ayer viernes el tiempo le jugó una mala pasada a la octava versión de Master of the Ocean. De las tres eliminatorias pautadas solamente los competidores de surf pudieron avanzar hacia la final que se celebrarán este fin de semana, en Playa Encuentro, Cabarete.

and surfers surfed on Friday at the Master of the Ocean. Clearing winds came from the West all night and into the am hours. Winds calmed as the surf grew. Friday had the biggest surf of the competition to date. Maui John battled heavy conditions for 10 waves to take the day and bring the SUP Cup to a tie at 1- 1 with Gordon Gannon. Thursday and Friday are the days that count so far for the SUP CUP.
McLoven leads Master SUP
Gordon “McLoven” Gannon takes commanding lead in the Master of the Ocean SUP Exhibition.
Gannon wins the first two SUP days by a narrow margin over John Holzhall (Maui John).
“…we count the best two days of surf…” said Gannon “so the first two days were small and fun, I won by percentage…they probably won’t count, but we will see”.
Large surf is predicted for the weekend.

Decenas de atletas participan en el popular triatlón acuático, tras grandes premios y el título de “amo de los mares”. La competencia inicia hoy miércoles.
Este martes un total de sesenta participantes acudieron a las inscripciones de la octava versión del “Master of the Ocean”, paso previo a las jornadas clasificatorias que tendrán lugar hoy miércoles y mañana jueves, rumbo a las finales del fin de semana.
La mítica comunidad turístico-deportiva de Cabarete, al norte de la República Dominicana, se convierte así en la protagonista absoluta de la actividad deportiva en el territorio quisqueyano. El poblado, que es universalmente conocido por las bondades naturales que ofrecen sus playas, es la cede del “Master of the Ocean”, evento anual en el que los mejores atletas del surf, kitesurf y windsurf que se dan cita en duras batallas acuáticas, para coronarse como el “Amo de los mares”.
Master of the Ocean 2010-1st day Feb 24th
The event kicked of at 7.00 am with John Holzhall launching the paddle board exhibition and historic paddle board challenge in Dominican Waters. At the 321takeoff center, the 36 surfing qualifiers checked in around 8:30. After the first round of qualifiers, 8 sufers were left standing by 11.30.
1 to 2 ft waves was a warm up to what’s to come for the weekend. The Kiteboarding was launched with young and upcoming riders. The last 8 have been chosen and will go into a final ranking for Thursday to see who will go to the finals starting Friday.
Only 8 expert windsurfers inscribed, which made them automatically qualified for the finals in Encuentro for Friday.
A very relaxed 1st day with good vibes and chill music made it easy and fun to watch Playa Encuentro and Cabarete beach in front of Ocean One.
Tonight the night life will get started with the best lip contest by Donell with RD$ 10 000,- for the sweetest lips.
The best is yet to come and we look forward to quality conditions with strong winds and big waves expected for the finals.

Se esperan más de ochenta atletas que participarán en las disciplinas de surf, kitesurf y windsurf. La competencia se celebra por octava ocasión, en Cabarete, al norte de la República Dominicana.
Una vez más, Cabarete le da la bienvenida al “Master of the Ocean”, certamen deportivo que reúne cada año a grandes figuras del surf, kitesurf y windsurf, tanto nacionales como internacionales, que compiten para coronarse como “el rey de las olas”.
En un encuentro con miembros de la prensa y patrocinadores, celebrado en el Cinnamon Café, de Santo Domingo, se informó que la octava edición de este asombroso triatlón acuático se desarrollará del 23 al 28 del presente mes y se espera la participación de más de ochenta atletas.

In what it might consider a final that will go down in history of the event, the Master of the Ocean 2009 finished its activities days on the waves, crowning to the place of Cabarete Emmanuel Rondon like the absolute champion of the contest that groups Surfing, Windsurfing and Kitesurf.
The ocean has proprietor again. In the triathlon Master of the Ocean, the only event in its type, Emmanuel Rondon obtained a devastating punctuation in three disciplines, leading the “overall” in all his shares in this event that adds already seven years of history.
In the podium also they got up, in the second the rider Luciano Gonzalez and third place the international English female competitor Kirsty Jones (Kite world Champion woman wave riding and 2006 Master of the Ocean).

“Master of the Ocean” returns in its 8th edition from 23 till 28 of February 2010.
Cabarete invites the world’s best Surfers, Kitesurfers, and Windsurfers. One of the most important and pioneering competitions of its type, ” Master of the Ocean” returns 2010 charged with excitement and skill on the waves of Cabarete.
Cabarete will host the 8th edition of this sporting spectacle, that each year brings together the greatest figures, both national and international, who compete for the crown of “Master of the Ocean,” the athlete with the best performance in the three categories of Surfing, Windsurfing, and Kitesurfing.
Without a doubt, “ Master of the Ocean” constitutes a unique event. It deals with a true “triathlon on the waves,” where participants are totally committed to pulling off tricks and acrobatic jumps (“airs”) on their boards- while the whole audience, in addition to delighting in the highest level of sport, enjoys Cabarete, its great gourmet fare, its exciting nightlife, and all the other event activities like the Music festival Indepen-dance.

Pyko is the creative soul for Master Of The Ocean. He oversees all promotional and marketing materials design and production. A very talented graphics designer, Pyko also draws comic books and custom surfboard and kiteboard designs. He’s the go to man for cool custom board designs:)

Originally from beautiful St.Petersburg, Russia, Julia is overseeing most of the event’s production aspects. Currently living in Cabarete, Julia’s been successfully involved with Master Of The Ocean for the past 4 editions as a web-site developer. She is also an avid surfer and one of Cabarete’s well known socialites.
